Have I Done Enough?
Kicking cans down McAslin Street
I see the child that you were
Playing two balls up against the wall
Until they disappear up the close
With little knowledge of the life that you would begin
And little vision of the love that it would bring
Oh, have I done enough, done enough?
Oh, have I done enough?
Beneath the blankets down West Campbell Street
You saw the child in their eyes
And picking up the pieces of their broken lives
You made the picture just like new
With little knowledge of the life that they would begin
And little vision of the love that they would bring
With the loving of a mother and understanding of a friend
And the healing of a saviour
You breathe the air of a new world now
And leave a hungry world behind
And as you climb those whitewashed stairs to heaven
There’s still one thing I hear you cry
With a little knowledge of the life that you would begin
And a little vision of the love that it would bring
I see the child that you were
Playing two balls up against the wall
Until they disappear up the close
With little knowledge of the life that you would begin
And little vision of the love that it would bring
Oh, have I done enough, done enough?
Oh, have I done enough?
Beneath the blankets down West Campbell Street
You saw the child in their eyes
And picking up the pieces of their broken lives
You made the picture just like new
With little knowledge of the life that they would begin
And little vision of the love that they would bring
With the loving of a mother and understanding of a friend
And the healing of a saviour
You breathe the air of a new world now
And leave a hungry world behind
And as you climb those whitewashed stairs to heaven
There’s still one thing I hear you cry
With a little knowledge of the life that you would begin
And a little vision of the love that it would bring
