Blog:
30 April 2006
Alas...April!
The squeaky boots have been miraculously cured! Don’t ask me how…all I know is, they don’t squeak anymore! How bizarre! I think in externalizing my frustration on the last blog, somehow my boots have sensed that I’d given up on them and decided to stop the squeak! So they remain my favourite boots!
Anyway, my friend Craig suitably advised me that I was behind on my April blog (the date is clearly a lie!) so here it is!
I decided to set aside April to get back into some writing.
I spent a good few days up in Lewis with my old friends, one of whom has moved to a gorgeous wee house up there. I love that experience of meeting up with long standing friends. Despite not seeing much of them it’s like we’ve never been away…a precious thing. Great ‘thinking time’, going for walks down to Bragar beach, writing and enjoying a double duvet all to myself! Saw a wild otter cross the road in front of us (one of my favourite animals!) and watched in horror as my friend Jenny was engulfed by a freak wave! Thankfully she wasn’t washed out to sea. She just had to drive us home in her pants! Watched 2 surfers for ages and decided that’s something HAVE to learn to do. While we’re on the subject, I decided after all these years of desperately wanting a VW camper that I should just go out and get one. My dad soon brought me down to earth with a bump by showing me exactly what I could get for my money on e bay: a shell worth a mere £4000 pounds! A few more CDs to sell I think!
Struggling to get the songs to flow just now, although I have loads of ‘bits’. Funny how you think you’ll never write a song again! Maybe I won’t…ahhhh!!!!!
The concert with the London Community Gospel Choir was great. Some voices by the way! Fantastic to see so many Greenock folk out!
Alas, April has indeed flown by too. Next few months are pretty busy with gigs so hopefully see you around!
