Skye and the year so far
Enjoying a great week up here in Skye. Part holiday, part birthday celebrations, part giggage! Staying at Teeny's cottage (home of Skye Mastering) and forgotten just how much I love this wee place. Had a gig at The Broadford Hotel last Saturday and one more at Saucy Mary's, Kyleakin tonight before we head home. Been enjoying the four seasons in one day, reading, writing, having 'thinking time' as well as watching 'House' on DVD and exploring new parts of the island. Yesterday we found ourselves in Elgol having tea and scones (2 each...DL's idea!). What a breathtaking spot and a great place to spend your birthday! The year so far has been busy with gigs. Celtic connections with Teenage Fanclub and various other concerts, from Aberbeen to Fenwick and from wee living rooms to the RSAMD in Glasgow. The latter gig raised around £3000 for the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed in Bangladesh. Still enjoying airplay on Whispering Bob's Saturday night programme and Mr Anderson's feast of musical delights of which I'm grateful. I even managed to sneak in a wee appearance on Cullin Fm on Sunday morning there. I'm learning to go with the flow of doing live work, teaching, admin and taking time for reflection and creativity. I've really enjoyed meeting up with Kim Edgar and Jo Mango with the hope of doing some more collaboration. Sung some wee bits and pieces on my mate, Gareth Davies-Jones new album too. Don't really want to leave this wee haven but looking forward to supporting Luka Bloom in Milton Keynes on 25th March. Thanks for reading! Yvonne |
